Hi there

New owner here. When I drive the car it gets up to temp okay then suddenly the gauge will jump to red and the cooling fans come on. I believe its a faulty temperature sender as I understand when it loses signal the ECU switches on the fans and sends the gauge to red. I want to start by changing the sender/sensor. I read somewhere there are two but what are the locations? One I was told on the elbow that comes from the front right of the cylinder head but this has two sensors on it with two plugs - which of these is the sensor and where is the other sensor?

Also it has a glove box type cover on both sides. The car is left hand drive That cover is taped up - the the covers both the same?

Knowing what year would be helpful.

They're handed I believe, but a LH box lid from a RHD car will fit.

Ignore this post, I've asked a specialist supplier instead. I would have thought this would have been a very basic question - where is the temp sender on a petrol Freelander. Wow.

Its a K series 1.8 - the sender is on the head. Same as any K series ever made FYI - model year completely irrelevant.

Not at all irrelevant. There are in fact 3 different types of temperature sensor, based on what year the vehicle is. They are all in same general location, which is so obvious from a quick glance at the engine, so I assumed you wanted to know which sensor you needed for the year, not it's actual location on the engine.

You either want to know which sensor you need to solve the issue, or you don't.

Hi to be fair I asked where they were located because someone told me that there were two and I asked if there was indeed a second one and in which case where is it. I didn't ask for a part number .... chill man.
