Hiya guys, not posted for a while...
Making good use of lockdown...
Hope you are too...

I have a faulty cam sensor problem that's doing my head in!
Typical symptoms: starts from cold ok, though tickover a little erratic... Performance is obviously a little sluggish... Doesn't like to restart...

Diagnostics (Hawkeye): code P0341 - cam sensor fault. Live data:camsync: Lost.

This continues to be the case despite changing the sensor 3 times, and even changing the engine bay wiring loom!
I've carried out a static test with a multimeter on each of the cam sensors I've had - readings from earth to Red, and then to Green sensor wires hold to a steady approx. 12v and 10v respectively (with ignition on). No drop in voltage when the sensor is in contact with something metal.

Any ideas??? Please!???

My project 1.8 Tonga had an issue where it put the MIL on randomly, and gave a cam sensor code. I just replaced it with a second hand one from an old V6, and the light or code never returned. ;)

It's strange because the engine won't start unless it has a cam position signal, but I suspect a weak output from the sensor will flash a code.

Thanks a lot.
Ironically, the MIL doesn't illuminate (except with the ignition).
Have tried 3 different sensors. Could they all be faulty!?

Not impossible for them all to be faulty, though. Were they new, secondhand, OEM or copy parts?

Have had one of each! A secondhand one... A brand new one... OEM part....
Next to try, is a replacement ECU.
I can't think of much else to replace...
