Hi all, I have a '99 Freelander 1.8 petrol. It is running fine, but it has a strange problem that I have not been able to solve.
In the morning when the engine is cold, it starts and run fine for 2-3 minutes. Then it seems to loose power and it is "jumping". Has to gear down and press accelerator to keep the car going. This lasts for only app. half a minute. Then the engine goes back to normal and runs like a champ again. This happens every time the car have stood still for a little while. No problem to live with it, but it is quite annoying.
Anybody experienced similar problem?

Check that the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) is not stuck open, this allows extra air into the engine when it is cold and closes as the engine warms up, sometimes they stick open and cause the problem you have. You can remove it and clean it to see if this improves things.
