Hi.Usual problem,no sign of overheating, having just purchased this freelander. Now find that i have the following to deal with.Any help would be appreciated.
Top rad hose expanding to the point it looks like a build up of pressure.
Heater works as it should, wondering whether i have a blockage any where.
Whats the procedure for total coolant change/bleading the system.
Other than that generally happy with freelander.
PS,why did i update from an old series 2a i will never know
Regards Nick

Hi,I just bought an 1.8 petrol 2005 model, its got a strange habit, every time I switch on the ignition the radiator fan starts kicking even at its very start in the morning at relatively low temperature, don't know wether its normal coz I'm new in this blend.Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Looks like you both have exactly the same problem

And a similar car problem too :D

Fortunately there is a simple answer to remedy all

Petrol. Matches :flame2:

:welcome2:

Great help!!!!

You're welcome.

T'is sound advice, the 1.8 is a crap engine and the whole vehicle is probably worth more as an insurance claim.

Don't think it'll every be worth putting a TD4 engine in even if it would go straight in.

Even assuming you replaced every part of the cooling system it's still a ****e engine prone to HGF

How much money are ya gonna keep throwing at it.

Is that more helpful :violent:

HGF...Hepatocyte growth factor...what a clever little freelander...don't worry what big defender say...he speak from ar5e.....:mooning:

Hi VKS and Greener, your original posts were a few months ago, did you solve your problems of overheating on the 1.8 as well as the fans kicking in at start up? I have a KV6 and 1.8. Do the fans stay on 100% of the time while the engine runs or do they shut off? When the fans switch on VKS, do they stay on at full blast? (there's 3 speeds, low, medium and high). During this time if you let your engine idle say for 20 minutes for the sake of argument, does the temperature needly climb from the bottom to halfway? Or, past half way, does it climb at all or does it stay forever at the bottom?
