Hi Iam new to land rovers and have just purchased a freelander 1 love the car but prop was removed prior to my purchase and garage I bought it from said it was removed for fuel consumption that old chestnut !! I have sourced a recon viscous coupling locally however I have no idea if this was at fault or the ird was the car drives fine in 2wd no noises or grinds gears are smooth crunch free etc but I was wondering if there is any way of checking the ird before prop is fitted may sound numb but this is my 1st freelander and although I have tried to research this problem can't really find an answer am I better to replace the ird aswell what's the worst case scenario if I just fit the prop ?? Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated

Fit a prop, if any other faults show up go back to the garage and demand they fix it.

After all, they said it was only for fuel consumption.
