I've searched the forum & see that there are lots of threads relating to battery drain - apologies, because here's another one!

We're based in SW France. Our 2005 Vogue TD6 has been with us for a year. We're now having a battery drain issue - the battery has been checked and is in good order. I think it's something to do with the AV system - there is a light on the top left of the AV that doesn't go off, but I can't be sure.

My question is a long shot - does anyone know of anybody in SW France with kit for carrying out tests on a RR?

Thanks!

AV? if that's anything to do with audio/vidio look behind the trim in the left hand side of the boot, there is a large metal box with connectors on the top, they may be wet, leaks into this area are a common problem. Wait for the red LED to go out on the satnav box before disconnecting anything then remove the connectors and check for damp and corrosion. Putting your loacation might help, there may be someone nearby who can help. I'm also in SW France for example. You can buy diagnostic kit from www.rswsolutions.com or www.blackbox-solutions.com often cheaper than a visit to a dealer.

Datatek, thanks so much for the suggestion. We'll try this. Do you know if the timed climate control could contribute to a battery issue? This is the only setting that we've changed recently, turned this off yesterday afternoon and the battery didn't drain overnight...

We're about an hour from Carcassonne.

Stick your rough location in your details. Your'e too far from me for me to be of any use but there are other owners down your way.:)

Thanks again for the help. Started first time this morning, fingers crossed that this was the problem. What is the purpose of the timed climate control if it's going to drain the battery though? How's it supposed to be used?
It was -6 degrees here the morning the car first didn't start.

I haven't seen the L322 timed climate control but I suspect, like a central heating programmer you have to set an on time and an off time so you would only let it run for say 30 minutes before you are going out in the car if you are commuting for example. If you accidently switched it on with no time period and it ran all night I'm not surprised the battery is dead.:)

I set it to come on for 1.5 hours, which I had thought meant after 1.5 of drive time! Anyway, it has started today - seems it was all my fault! Grrr! Thanks for your help and to the others who responded too. Good to know where to come next time.

I think you are refering to the aux ventilation setting.I think the maximum time it will run is 30 minutes when the outside temp is >16 celcius. You can set it twice to activate in 24 hour period, after that it resets and would have to set again for the next 24hour period.
