He also said the steering arm is in a different location so the more I look the more confused it becomes surely they didn't change steering location ect ect just because its a sport version 😬

The steering rack is in exactly the same location, but the wheels are higher in the arches, so the steering arms bolt lower on the strut, so the brackets on the strut are lower.

Or more likely, there's less strut below the bracket.

Well according to the JLR parts list all the steering racks & the track rods (that bolt between the rack & suspension unit) for ALL models are the same now (there were different part no's for these items, but no ref to 'sport' models, just chassis number references but they have all superceded to a single part no, so I'm personally, not sure IF they were different what you could do, as I say everything seems to the same these days. The rack & steering rods bolt in the same place on all models.

Hi, our posts have crossed:). I don't think LR would have changed the cast lug position on the dampers as the steering rod just pivots on the bush in it (rack end) & the damper end has a ball joint so nothing is in a 'fixed' position to warrant making a different damper, all the best.

Cheers @Andy Warren
I can't see them being in different places myself surely that would have been more hassle for landrover to change steering components
I've been looking for the top bush mounting but been told it will fit but not sports suspension

Hi, what year is your FL & is it a facelift model ?

It's a 2005 facelift td4 se chassis no A4
Hi, the top mounts/bearings are all the same from c/no 1A000001 until end of production. If you click on the item no's in the link I sent in post 18 i.e no 1 for the spring & no 8 for the damper it will show you what is what concerning std & sport suspension ( item 6 is the top mount). Have you looked at the colour label on your dampers ? (you can see my dampers were white in post no 1). I've still got my old dampers so I can measure the height of the cast lug if you want so you can compare it with yours if you wish, let me know, all the best.

I will check mine tomorrow if it ever stops raining but I'm 90% sure there is no label on the drivers side
But at the moment I only need a new top mount as when I was changing the caliper the top mount seemed very warn but if there all the same from A1 I will purchase one
Thanks for all your help Andy
