Hi Stan, I've been quoted £350-400 to replace that o/s quarter leg, the other side isn't as bad as it looks after I removed the rear step gubbings (pretty solid & will pass an MOT).
I wasn't changing the seals, i was changing the boots on the knuckle's ball joints. but I have the seals and the ball joints just in case i end up having to change them if it fails the MOT!
As far as I can tell all the joints are fine and, even with the heavy tooling, changing them will be a heck of a job. I have the tooling, but the only one I think is the slightest dodgy is a lower one, and I'd have to take the perfectly good upper one off to change it.Both seals were fine, so I left them too.

I was quoted £700 to replace the whole rear third chassis. Mind that would be less welding. Certainly less fiddly.
Maybe get a quote for that? Or similar?
Have you tried getting quotes elsewhere?
Hi Stan, I did enquire at a LR independent last Oct. (could only show him pics on my phone) & he quoted £200 for stripping & welding a new rear quarter on, with me supplying it. So I'll see if I can get it to them in the next few weeks for a proper look.
