No look at the 90 last night but they are asking to much money £4500. Trying to find a realistic price to offer him. We said £2500 for the truck. Looking for help from experienced people

Do you know Defender's mate ? If you don't then you MUST go back with someone who does, they are an absolute minefield for the inexperienced.

Ahh right so that's their ad you've pasted in your post.
To be honest £2500 doesn't get you much in the 90/defender field nowadays (1988 makes it a 90 not a defender) but if it isn't running then that's got to drop the price considerably and if it's just a pump then why don't they fix it before selling (could turn out very expensive), also petrols seem to go for less than diesels.
Can't see much galve on that chassis, but it could just be dirty(again why not wash it before selling).

Personally I definitely wouldn't be spending £4500 on it without seeing it/hearing it running and having a test drive.

Just reread it again......"Not running" be wary mate before you commit to this one

No it not galv chassis. Which we pointed out. The low pressure fuel pump is working and fuel is getting through to the pots as we could smell it when turned out on key. The HT lead is earthing out on the chassis!!! Didn't tell him!! We think it the truck is sound inside and out apart from a little bubbling on bulk head under windscreen.

i know what i would do after seeing that , especially if the engine hasn't run for ages

Run away, lol

Insurance will love you. If the Engine not working walk away unless you buying a project. The problem now is rough wagons being sold as possible classics is wrong. I would do a quick check with a reliable company on it history also check the MOT history on the website provided.

MOT expired 18 months ago, I'd suggest definitely a 'project' if you decide to go ahead with it

Blatant lies in an advert is more than enough to have me walking away, coupled with dodgy paperwork and I'd still be accelerating

What paperwork is with it?

As it would appear to be listed as a 3.5L Diesel.

MOT states it is petrol.

Something has not been updated, could prove interesting to get it changed.

Cheers

sounds like many red flags there

chassis also looks really rough, might just be me but on the left hand side of the pic it looks like some welding has been done and not sure if that's a tie bar on the floor

imagine this would be a total rebuild , rolling chassis upwards, lol
