Hi guys, Just my second post here. Thought I would update you on my Last post. I bought a 2002 4.6 a month or so ago with a misfire on cylinder one. I took a quick look and when I took the plug out it was covered in oil and gunk,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,crap, looks like a head off job! So, started stripping down the engine today and when I got to taking the Rocker cover off I found........................The rocker shaft had snapped!!!!!!
Dont know if anyone has seen this before? Will strip the rest down tomorrow and see what other damage i find!
If there is no major damage I am going to change EVERYTHIN! Cam, follower, water pump, followers, rods and of course the Rocker shafts!

Had a look at Island 4x4 and was thinking of getting the Reinz head gasket set. Anyone have an opinion on this? And also going to get the camshaft and followers etc etc etc. Any advice on wich ones to purchase would be appreciated!
Cheers for now and look forward to your replies!
Rob
Have put a pic of the broken rocker shaft also.........

Pity you aren't a bit closer you could have popped in for all your engine parts cheaper than 4x4
Can give our Sie a ring though and get advice, quotes and mail order cause we specialise in engine components and do nothing else

Lymm Engine Components

Hope you get fixed up:)

But your website only lists the L322, no other Rangies.

Thanks for that.............. had a look and cant find anything other than l322. will keep looking though!

I had a similar thing on my 4.6. In my case just replaced the broken shaft, gaskets etc. That was last October and it's been fine ever since. This is my broken rocker shaft:

Also link to the post I made at the time:

Good luck with your repair.

Carl....

Cheers carl, that looks like it has snapped in exactly the same place as mine.
I was thinking of changing the cam etc just in case the cam is knackered although its apparently a pig to do with the block in the car. How was your cam when yours snapped?
Cheers Rob
