Hi guys just wondered if any of you have used forte engine flush in your td5, only asking as I changed the oil on my new defender about 300 miles ago and it's black already where as my disco takes about 2000 miles to go black... Engine runs really well and don't want to mess it up lol
 
I've used Forte stuff for years and it's really good, but never put any flush through my Defender....it's got enough leaks already without removing any build-up inside to create more....

Hi thanks for you reply... So in a nutshell you would advise me against it?
 
If you want to clean everything out it's the stuff to use - but be prepared for it to bring to the surface all the leaks as it cleans all the deposits from inside !
 
I used it last month when I serviced me Td5 Disco, I had no idea when it had last been serviced and it was 2L short of oil, so clearly ages as it doesnt use any oil now I've refilled it. The drain was great and that service made a drastic difference, not saying it will to yours but you can't see the benefits anyway with your eyes. I then went and used the diesel treatment, again massive gain in smoothness and have ordered some more for me dads truck. I have the MG owners club up the road from me they have it for 13 ish quid a bottle, fantastic value for the trade standard stuff!! :)

if you have an active EGR you can flush and flush and keep on flushing
if you use chemicals or flushing agents be aware when cleaning an engine all debri carbon build up will drop to the bottom could block up shower head screen on oil pick up pipe (seen this happen twice on a saab motor and a holden motor )
some detergents used in these flushes can also upset oil seals or react against them... engine seals already have enough of a hard time as it is without adding in other agents

to get an engine this clean doesn't just happen over night

Thanks for your input guys... Think I'll leave the new oil in for another 1 to 2k miles then drop it again... Thing is she's been on a RAF camp in Norfolk all her life so only done 70k probably never had a good run as such
