Title says it all, forgot to put some wading plugs in and ended up going though some water up to the bottom of my doors at the weekend, was probably only about a 20m section and went though it without stopping

Should I be worried? What should I be checking?
I have extended breathers it was just the wading plugs I completely forgot about.:oops:
 
If it was reasonably clean water and you didn’t stop I wouldn’t worry too much.

Being stuck in 2’ of muddy water for half an hour would be a different story.
 
Ive never had mine in and ive been up to the bonnet in mud, Unless you want to pull off the timing cover and check there isnt much else you can do about it.

No, defo not, but the only thing under my timing cover that will grind with dirt is the tensioner and thats a sealed bearing, the belt will throw dirt off eventually.

No but the floor mat started floating (now that really was a weird sensation).

I'm going to have a look seem if there's any crud crusted on near the drain holes and in 'em before giving the whole thing a wash down and await the inevitable "what's that grating noise" game.

No wading plugs, although I did destroy that engine when it hydrolocked!
 
Nope, bent a con rod locking up the engine, smashed the cylinder bore skirt unlocking it! engine still ran but it was all over the place, ran like a bag of spanners, I had to use a plasma cutter to remove the con rod then thought arse to rebuilding it so bought a new engine.
 
Funnily enough when I changed the oils afterwards more mud than oil came out of the transfer box, thick light brown gloopy stuff, took all day to drain. I'm still running that transfer box now two years or more later, it makes a hell of a noise!
 
Just a thought but your drain should have a wire screen in there, that should stop most big things getting in there, Mine doesn't even have the screen bit in! I must get around to sorting that.
 
I forgot wading plugs one day on my 200, few weeks later engine sounded weird so like all good mechs I ignored it! but in the end I got looking and found the water/mud had got into the cambelt tensioner and its was fubared, not many weeks later the clutch died as well was like it has been attacked by grinding paste.
Oh yeh water also got in the top of the injector pump and caused that to seize as wello_O
