Why don't we just scrap the intros section all together? never understood the point of it personally... i never posted in there, but, then, the series lot a lot nicer than the rest of you :p

But we do love the intro section to show we're all a friendly lot :D and so we don't feel used and abused with noobs just wanting answers :p

Have to admit in my excitement of finding the forum and being about to buy a Landy I posted straight in the Anything goes section...ooops got some abuse, also got some replies and am still on here and reckon overall its damn good.
Have seen the worst offenders, usually ones who set up the account and try and sell stuff in several sections on day one

Ooh yeah spammers and stuff :(

I just think it's nice being a community / group on here, anybody is very welcome but don't just turn up and ask questions without a little intro :)

I just got told off by a new p38 owner/ LZer who had asked questions in the first post :( hopefully I ain't upset him tho :)

How about when someone signs up they have to provide an introduction and this is automatically posted in the Introductions section.

I think its a good idea as Ive seen a few people come on now, ask for advice and basically get told to rethink their lives and never come on LZ again :D (in less exact words). I actually completely bypassed the introduce yourself section and somehow didn't get mauled...

I guess I have a charm about me :D:D

Makes things easier for the noob, some on here don't care for a intro, some do, seen quite a few noobs get ripped apart or **** taken :p
But nobody wants a stranger asking "I've got a leak near my sunroof on the disco, wheres the water coming from?" Every week :D

Some people need online tutoring on how to use LZ... How to Search and post in the right section :D

I ducked under the radar too...my intro was not my first post :banana:

My first post was an air bag question :bolt:

It could also put potential newbies off altogether ... people are quite rightly concerned about what information they give out on the net. :)

That's quite simply avoided by having a simple introduction with little or no information given out.

"Hi my name is <username>, I'm interested in Land-Rovers. I currently have a <model> / I'm looking at getting <model>"

Well you can see what their username is ... they're obviously interested in Landrovers ...

I get what you mean but for someone who may just want to ask a simple question ... they may not bother ... and that initial question may well have turned into another regular member :)

Did my intro all proper like, plenty of info and no questions, then a while later I posted a suggestion for a sticky about tyres etc to save annoyance.. I came away with several teeth missing a ruptured spleen, a head injury and I couldn't sit down for a week. :D

Nah seriously it's a larf though ain't it.. made some good mates on here... oh and wolf ;)

I honestly don't think there is a perfect answer.

Even if you restricted/directed folk to introduce themselves, with pointers on what to say, there will still be those who wont read it all because they're in too much of a hurry to find out the biggest tyres they can fit or what colour their paint is.

Landyzone int gonna suit everyone, but the fact it does appeal to soooo many folk I think speaks for itself ;)
