Glad to see you back on the forum mate :)

Cheers, Andy

Thanks Andy .... now about that guy with a dual mass flywheel under his bench, and that 150 amp stick welder just sitting there looking at him ...

What's the delay? Weld the bugger up and post the photos!

shirley it would need balanceing afterwards...

Ive driven others with the same & they have no issues-Im not claiming its heavy duty, that is how its sold, I am only claiming it prevents a dual mass flywheel from falling to bits.
Im fully aware of the reputation Britpart has with a lot of people, I was simply offering/sharing information in the true sense of a forum.
I was not asking for any opinion of this post.
Have you fitted one? driven a car with one? had one fail?
If so, please enlighten...or go & play with yourself on Twitter

Good for you, it's about time someone put that asshole firmly in his place. He only offers pleasant advice to those with Defenders or Series Landies & is a total waste of space to the rest of us so don't waste too much time pondering his worthless opinions.

Good info on the conversion, the only worry I've heard is that with FORD diesels the conversion can cause the crankshaft to fail prematurely. I've only heard this about the Ford diesels as fitted to the Transit from a member on here, so it should be ok on other vehicles.

Hi Chromium
..i thought as much!
nice freelander BTW.
I work for a motor factor & sell loads of the Transit conversion kits, they seem pretty good, no complaints yet ! So yeh, fingers crossed & all that!

i can soon weld it up but i am not going to drop the gearbox to try it untill i have to and i hope that wont be for a year or two and i also need to check i can get a clutch plate with springs in it to fit but i am sure a tdi plate will fit with a td5 presure plate

Typical LandRover soultion .. Pick and Mix components till it's a runner!

Can you take a pic of the flywheel and where you might apply weld material?

Balancing will be no problem as long as welds are about the same length and spaced opposite each other.

Hi Guys, I know this is an old post but seeing as it is now 2 1/2 years since the first post has there been any down side to fitting the solid fly wheel over a DMF,

Excellent 1st post...no intro and a question on a long dead thread.

Well done.

Oh thanks for your kind non sarcastic welcoming comments there storm, i felt it was a valid question there is very little about long term results following the fitment of a solid over a DMF, short term i can see the gains but how about long term, how do the gearbox bearings hold up etc after an extended time.
as for introductions
name is rob, the rest i will leave to your imagination

It was a valid question but you're wrong on the answer. The answer was dripping in sarcasm.

Your response was just dipped in it.
