Isn't the 2.7 litre tdV6 the type which snaps the crankshaft?

Yep,, fitted to D3, 4 and 5, but a caring owner probably helps a lot.

Mainly the later 3.0, but the 2.7 aint immune!

2.7 only fitted to the d3, d4 had the larger 3.0 unit.

I'd give it a miss. The manual isn't anything like as nice to drive as an auto.
