hi
use 0.8mm wire. you will get better results than with the 0.6mm supplied.
and buy a 5 kg roll. with little ones you run out just before the end of the job...

Still looking for some sort of walk through, Project on hold till better weather. Still got no practice welding :( would not know were to start on this. Doin my head in
heyup mate
i am about to be doing the same thing with my series 3, again i have to do mine on the drive as no garage. i bought the footwells from fleebay (still waiting for them to turn up before i have a good look at them plus i aint got a welder yet but do have an offer of help...
i will post some pics of my beast (keep saying that)

You're gonna have to take it to someone then.

I have a few people that have offered help, but when its crunch time will they be there ?

Once the better weather comes i'm going to get on with having a go at welding, but with no garage, full time job, no spare cash and not much spare time. Its like mission impossible.

heyup garath - sounds like your a busy man lol - will they turn up well if its anything like my mate who pomised then NO llllll
mine went off the road just before xmas when tax and mot ran out - that was the plan to run it till they finished and then to give it a good sort out, but its taken longer than expected and other things always crop up with the other half..... new shoes and the like lol

but do have an offer of help...
an its still there.

re UK_Akita's footwells, there pretty mashed. all the craps gonna have to be cut out but a new footwell should fit whats left.

are you willing to travel to shipley for an afternoons worth of welding basics? maybe with b20wnx and his bulkhead when its off, or the pair of you just havin a go at welding?

i am still waiting on hearing about the bulkhead from down south, i have started taking it apart, but its bluddy cold out there, i have uploaded pctures to the albums on here if you want to take a look |(series 3 looking good)

Couldn't see why not, Will keep you in mind. Thank you

but its bluddy cold out there

I know what you mean, I have the near side nearly off (1 stubborn last bolt holding it on) and have to get out and get the off side off. But like you say its too cold. Also i have time against me.

Have plenty of friends that will be there when it up and running, were are they when it needs fixing. Also going to have to look at rear cross member repair when the footwells are done. Still not a clue were to start

On a good note, i have got some new wire and gas with regulator for the mig. Will be having ago when weather is better.

i think that a trip up to yorkshire would do rhino the world of good, a short break away from his restro and some advice for us yorkshire lads (plenty tea and buscuits) and we drink proper beer up here.......
