right imy tank is fooked and leaking so i have had a brain wave (mabey a stroke) i am going to make a new one and i am going to locate it inside the vehicle just behind the rear bulkhead (nice central location), now i have to chose the size two of the dimentions are set by the width of the tub between the arches and the hight of the arches so i have 36" and 8" already.

now the only dimention left is how far from the bulkhead it protudes i have done a little math and come up with three sizes that seem the best first up is 12" which will give a capacity of 54L, 15" which gives a capacity of 67L and 20" which gives a capacity of 90L my first instinct is to go bigger is better but with the other mods i have planned for the landy (200Di convertion supposed to give 35mpg) i am not sure i will ever need a tank range of 680miles...........

trew, not TDi..... Di removes the turbo and is ment to be more fuel efficient
red, what size do you recon i should go for

15" it'll give you a decent range and won't take up to much space in the back. Have you thought of cutting the floor and lowering the tank down between the chassis rails. That would give you an extra 6" of fuel and wouldn't get in the way when off roading.

Di more fuel efficient?
I find that very hard to believe.

And Daft - "on a run" in a cut-down disco doesn't count.
I meant average consumption in a deepender. You'll be lucky to better 30mpg.
