Im really ****ed off! lesson learnt . bought 2 air bags from flea bay RANGEROVER P38 DUNLOP AIRBAGS X2 | eBay

practically new, just trying to save a few quid as holidays and childminder costing a small fortune. Anyway had them fitted by a mate (Check my other post). car wouldnt go up when i got it home, and top plate ended up blowing off! Ended up buying a new one and been ok for last week. came home today and car was on stops again. Guess what wouldnt go up and the other one is leaking from same place.

They are saying the bags are not faulty, I disagree!!!!
 
well then !!!! you know what they say about OLD BAGS keep away from them ??????????? ho ho ho I said it wouldn't be long before someone 's arse would be bit !!!!!!!! but I am surprised you bought s/h ones emmotts of colne would fit 4 new dunlops for you and charges around £300 .. ring him and tell him mozz sent you

Aint got 300 notes though! anyway fronts are fine, Ill just buy another brand new one. Really would not normally have gone 2nd hand but they seemed ok you know? I only saved myself 30 quid over buying a new pair, thts whats so annoying. Im a dick lol.

now also need discs and pads and possibly a calliper as it sounds like a train coming down the road. payday in 2 weeks cant come soon enough! need to get some foreigners on the go!! got any mates who need paintwork doing? :violin:
 
Open a dispute on ebay state there are faulty even though the seller claims there not
might take a while but should get your money back
 
yeah they were rears, I checked before buying! Hes offered me a partial refund for the first one, but now the other side has gone! gonna cost me another tenner to send it back. He said he will put the one i sent back, back into stock as they pushed the plate back on. actually wait.....

'Hi there , we can confirm that we have received the Dunlop Air Bag and although the top has popped off, we cannot find any fault with the item, the air bag has been inflated whilst not in position for this to happen, as the top will not come off if there is a range rover P38 sat on top of it, we have put the top back on the air bag and tested under pressure on a test rig that holds the top and bottom plates in place and the air bag works without fault, therefore I am happy to return the item to you or I can re stock but you will only receive a partial refund, please advise me as to what you would like to do. thats what he said! so the next person will have same prob. they aint supposed to come off!! My mate reckons they left suspension hangin when they removed them last time
 
Unless there is too much travel in the shocks. Eg:- Front shocks fitted to rear. Air bags simply CANNOT blow off if fitted correctly.
 
what i dont understand is it was fine for a week, now its doing the same thing as the other one. My mate who fitted it knows hes done nothing wrong. hes fitted 1000's of em.

Had a quick look underneath and it almost looks like the bag has folded down??

The bag should be folded over itself and unfold as pressure is applied to allow it to expand lengthwise. Then refold as pressure is lowered. With it located on the axle and on the chassis it CANNOT over expand and blow off the upper or lower mounts. Providing the correct shocks are fitted.

yeah there is air going to it alright, its just ****ing out the top of the bag.

when it happened on other side i jacked car up again and tried to get some air in. worked slightly but when i took jack off it sank again. kept trying to raise car until it popped top off

You either have two seriously knackered air bags or you are doing something wrong. Trapped between the axle a chassis they cannot pop off with air pressure. If you have them down with no air in and jack up the chassis it will cause a vacuum in the bag and pull it off.

If you did this with the doors shut would the ECU "self-level" as it were and lay off the vacuum?
 
thats what im saying. The bag is almost folded in half so its pushing itself off the plate. the top plate and base are still in position.

come and have a look wammers!!

****ed off .com think its gonna have to wait 2 weeks now till i get paid and buy a new bag.
 
Ok got another bag. Replaced this morning.this is the bag I took off. Also had to use a crow bar to get top plate out!
