So from what i gather, i can put fog lights in a 2.5 dse as it doesnt effect the oil cooler is that correct ?

is it a straight install are there connectors from the loom there to be pluged in to ? how about wiring to the dash and switch ? i have a blanking switch, is there wiring to there ? what else would i need fo the install exactly ?

ive found someone whos got fogs for sale i can collect from, but just wondering what else i need etc 1st
thanks

Service bulletin issued in1995/6 states that fog lights should not be fitted to diesel automatics as they block off the transmission oil cooler. If it's a manual it's ok. My auto has fogs but also has a special vented front bumper. Loom should be there but you will have to get BECM looked at to activate them i think.

It wont effect engine oil cooler, but it will effect the gearbox oil cooler, which if you look at the front bumper on passenger side where the fog light would go,it should have a grill effect blanking cover and not just a blanking cover like whats on drivers side. This little grill is so that the cooler gets clean fresh air whilst driving,so if you cover it with a fog lamp you run the risk of the gearbox oil cooler getting too hot, thus future big bills so not advisable really.

wammers has already answered the question :)

found this thread, so its just the auto box that has the cooler situasted behing the n/s blanking

on page 3 someone says he fitted them to a dse manual, plugged them in and they worked straight away, and someone mentions a relay for the fuse box ?

so what parts do i need exactly, fogs, switch, relay or not ?

what if the fog lights dont have pipes attached ? or do i only get ones with pipes

and if i put them in and they did not work, the bcm thing where would i get that done ? im in portsmouth

Wiring should already be there,so you need fog lamps, dashboard switch, but most importantly the becm needs to be told that you have fogs to work.So unless you have a faultmate to turn them on, its a trip to an indy for them to work after you install everything.Unless you dead lucky and the becm has already been altered to work the fog lights. You should only need a relay if your putting fogs on a nudge bar by the way,cos you have to get a additional wiring kit for the nudge bar fogs

You need fog lamps and a switch only the proper switch will work as they are switched through BECM.

excellent thanks !!

depending on the prices put to me by him im going up there in the next few days and getting a few bits n pieces

what about if the fogs he has do not have pipes attached ? is it just normal plastic tubing stuff ? where do they attach /sit ?

You will see that when you get the lamps. Pipes go up either side of rad to top of it.

Wammers,
Was just wondering where you got the modified front bumper mate?.

Can't help sorry it was on the car when i bought it. It has a grille either side of N/S fog lamp. I have never seen another like it. It's a proper job not a bodge up. So they must have been available from somewhere.
