My 2008 freelander 2 won’t lock or unlock using the fob. I had the fob replaced (not with a lander specialist) about a year ago. A similar thing happened and they replaced the fob. I can get in manually using the passenger side with the key and then lock it. My problem is we go away in the car tomorrow if I continue doing this manually for a week would this be okay?
I know previously I left the car unlocked until I took it to the garage and this apparently drained the battery. Thank you in advance for your help

So you don’t use the drivers door, which I imagine thats the most common point to lock/unlock a vehicle.

So does the using of the passenger door lock set and unsets the security system ok i.e central locking?

If all things were equal, then usually just locking with the key instead of remote locking with the fob will be Ok. The only issue is by using the key only the alarms interior ultra-sonic detector would be inhibited, although the perimeter detection will still remain.

On a lot of more modern cars the exterior lock is only on the passengr side as for LHD that is the driver's side!
W's Citroen is just the same, as is the bonnet lock which can only be actione by opening the passenger side door.

By not double-locking with the fob button, the car’s electrical systems stay ‘awake’ for about 30 minutes every time you switch it off. If your car battery is good, and you are using it ‘normally’, i.e. not just starting it for 5-minute runs, i wouldn’t have thought it would drain the battery in a week.

The original LR fobs have a rechargeable battery soldered in, but your ‘copy’ fob may just have a standard battery - have you tried changing it?
