Any idea where I can buy one? I've looked on ebay and found nothing. I'm in the process of doing a 200tdi engine swop. I have just got my engine, but I want to replace the flywheel oil seal and 'studlock' it in. before I put the engine in. But I havent got the press tool recommended for doing the job, and they say it should be well hammered home.

Or Is there a way you can do this without useing the tool? Any tips will be much appreciated. I don't want to damage the new seal putting it in though.:)

I cleaned off the old removed one and used that and a blunt chisel to hammer it home, slowly working my way around.

ok thanks. it sounds like its carefully managing the best way you can then. I do have a white plastic guide that came with the new seal, so hopefully that will make it easier. I wonder what getting the old one outs going to be like?

two little screws put in the old seal @ 3 and 9 o'clock and you can gently wiggle it out, new seal is tight but the little plastic guide helps loads.

If you google rear crank seal change 200tdi there is loads of advise.

good luck and try and keep your patients :)

Ah right thank you!. I just dont want to go into it blind having never done one before.:)

One tip. When you've done it leave the engine sitting leaning back overnight and check there is no leak past the new seal. It is possible to kink the edge of the seal so it leaks, and it does not appear till the engine is back in and the drip from the bell housing drain appears. I am sure you will be able to guess how I know this!

Oh right, thank you. I will do that. I plan on using loctite to minimise leaks, did you put loctite on yours?
