Just done a oil change on the 300tdi and noticed there is only one bolt on my fly wheel housing, (near the sump) my Haynes manual shows at least 4, there is quite a bit of oil around it too.

Anybody know the size of the bolts? as I don't want to take the only bolt holding it together out!

Thank you for anybody who helps!

Nick :)

Try looking them up at Rimmer Bros. they have diagrams and sometimes the sizes are mentioned in the text.

Thanks for that there m10 but there stripped :( I put some new bolts in and they keep coming out, any ideas? Tap out to M12?

Hi Nick, is it a manual or auto box car? Can you post a picture of the area concerned, before we start to fix the problem.

You do know about the wading hole I take it?

Hi Dave it's a manual box I'll attach a pic and I know about the wading hole and haven't got a plug on it.

Thanks!

Are you saying your gearbox is held on with only one bolt !!!!!!!

Haha that's what I was worried about but had a look at it again and the bolts on top are there I had a feel around! I've had the car about 2 weeks and looks like some idiot stripped the thread when putting them in. I'm missing 3 in total.. I hope there ain't more!

around the rest of the housing are some 15mm nuts if i remember correctly fitted to studs, these should be there and be enough to hold the gearbox tight to engine temporary, i would suggest tapping and fitting some new bolts in sooner rather than later,

Will do thanks for that, if I tap out to M12 that should be okay?
