i have already done many aspects of the service and i am quite happy doing anything like that to it, all i was thinking is when i had to take it to the main dealer when my immobiliser locked out the engine, they said they do a full health check report when they service it, obviously in the hope i would get them to fix it, it would just be nice to see what the 'experts' had to say about it, when i say nice, not £700 worth of nice:)
 
Left car into LR today, they performed a visual survey on car and reported in the attached.

Regards to the "milky" coolant, they said they did not see this and that the temps were fine which I already knew. If oil was getting into the coolant from cylinders and or head gasket, would a technician under the car see a leak or symptoms of this?

Otherwise, car in pretty good nick for its age, bar the amount they have quoted for performing the advisory work.

Did you mean to attach something ?

If the head gasket was gone then most likely the oil would be milky and horrible to look at through the oil filler.
if it doesn't have any issues with coolant loss, milky oil or overheating i would say you are most likely ok:)

How much labor does it take to fit a ball joint? theyre charging over £300 to fit this and I believe the part is £15-30?

Does seem OTT, but depends which one it it.
I replaced my lower track arm the other week, the ball joint was OK but using the ball joint splitter ruined the rubber gaiter, rendering the ball joint useless.

So new ball joint (moog, a good one, £10 each side) The bolts were almost corroded away to nothing on the O/S so had to cut/drill it all out. Took a lot longer than a '5min job' it would have been if the bolts had removed right away.
Moral of the story, no such thing as a 5 min job ....!! A mare of a job.

Anyway, I spent a total of £510 on parts, front ARB drop links, front air bags, lower track arms & ball joints got a quote for a laugh from a local indi, £1250 all in fitted .......

you see what i mean now about fixing it yourself !!
the bottom ball joint is most likely RBK500150, britpart is about £7, genuine is about £30, i would imagine about 1 hour to fit maybe..
guess the brake pipes are corroded and the service is no surprise for a main dealer, depends how deep your pockets are and as far as a general over view of the car it could have been a lot worse, although you never know what little surprises are in store :):)

when i did my rear upper and lower suspension joints and track rod, the inner track rod bolts were rust welded into the bushes so had to cut the ends of with a small air hacksaw, took about 1 1/2 hours per bolt to do both sides of each bolt so 3 hours of sawing alone :(

When I bought mine last yr, I took it in to get the tracking done when I got2 tyres.

The inner track rod bolts were pretty seized too. Couldn't 't get it off, ended up taking it to another and got some oxy on it, that taught the Fokker !!! :D
 
That's when i knew mine were shot when the young lad at quick fit exploded a socket trying to do my rear tracking but then the MOT forced the situation as the bushes needed replacing.

i thought about the gas axe but it is only about 6 " from the fuel tank so i chickened out and took the saw to them. mine were 100 % welded into the bush anyway, nice job when done though, although i did start it about 3 times before getting brave enough to chop the bolts, the point of no return, and all with just a trolley jack and axle stands, scary stuff..to me anyway
 
thanks guys for the help, I am slowly bringing myself to DIY'ing but it wont have a great resale value if theres no documented history. Surprisingly, 2 local indies were no more than 10% cheaper than dealership.

At those prices, I would rather go to the dealership, at least you get a courtesy car and a breakfast.
