Hi All!
joined here to talk about my flooded p38 4.6.hse. It was sunday..late afternoon and stuck in a river, engine stopped just at this point obviously, filter was wet and some water was in a tank before MAF. Then the water came to us, around 5 min later. luckily sunroof was opened so we could get out easily. But all electric was underneath except SRS.
I have removed spark plugs and sprayed them and engine too so as the intake. battery is like new but dead ( don't know if that is good or bad hh Then i have removed seats to get to electric part, dryed becm and gearshifter and other stuf underneath. now is everything dry. tomorrow will arrive new battery, so i must do the question part. All put together and pray this is plug and play version.

do you have some extra advice? maybe some oli change perhaps or something that i forgot? thanks for replays

holy duck!! You didn't check the depth of the water with a stick??
give it as long as possible to dry out, maybe drop the engine oil as well!!
the rest will be suck it and see. I hope this hasn't ruined your car mate :eek:
 
Judging by the depth of the water outside the window, I'm pretty sure you got all breathers for axles and transmission under water... I would suggest you check all fluids for possible water contamination, especially the transmission and change them all. For your sake, I hope the engine did not ingest any water or else you may possibly have hydrolocked it and bent a few conrods. My advice is, dont rush it, give the electrics plenty of time to dry out before you go and run voltage through them.... If you dont mind me asking, what was the plan anyway? Were you taking a detour home or something?
 
Do all the above and then contact Wammers before you connect any power to it. Bits may have fried and you may fry other bits. All sorts of lecy problems may occure, an air bag going off in yer ear will hurt, a lot. Sorry to say this may become a doner car for other members. What a waste, :( Good luck pal

I will change oils, as breathers are there, you say wet..
the plan was to have barbecue by the river but first got to wash my wheels and i stuck only with front tires, i couldnt go back so though i torpeded with turned wheels, terrain was slippery so it moved me more to depth..i´ll never try this again hh river sand is bitchy enough ..
 
you may have to start stripping out carpets to dry the girl properly! Next time use a hose!!:rolleyes:
 
+1 on stripping the interior. The insulation underneath the carpets acts like a sponge and retains the water. It needs to be in a dry environment for days or even weeks to dry properly. Found this from experience after sorting front door leaks into passenger footwell.

well i didnt take out carpet, ive just bend it to get under, and suck it like this..though i would stripp it off and reseal whole cabin with latex..but i figure it that water simply isnt for cars..:)
 
You have big, big problems DO NOT switch the car on disconnect the battery. You will have to remove all the electrical units from under the seats and dry them then pray. You may have knackered your car.

Now i assembeled the things but has gear fault, fuse 6 and starter wont turn. It has very new battery and its all way around 12.5V.
Tough its starter?

 
If I'm not mistaken, transmission controller must be inhibiting startup. Starter will not engage if it thinks transmission is any other position apart from P or N. Most likely some contacts acting up from water ingress. Then again it could just be the starter that's died from drowning. I had assumed you were gonna wait a few days more to ensure that everything had dried out thoroughly.

I have dried car interior very well so as the units. I tried to start it without spark plugs so water can be pulled out if there is inside. Maybe gear is not in P.. As i left gear in low. I put it out from low you can hear gear shift. So ive put in ordinary P then. Ive tried put a fuse in 11 but its same. When i turn ignition sems that something is doing but not turning..also msg says inertia swich wich i pushed but did nothing
 
Have you tried turning the engine over by hand with the spark plugs out, to check its not binding at all
 
Didnt..its hard to turn or easy peasy? What about switching relay? I saw a guy on youtube..Could i burn something with switching? Tomorow i will erase errors but not with nanocom..maybe will still do good. And for fresh start tomorow will be checking terminal cable for any bad circuit to ecu..
 
Do you get a light showing the gear on the H gate, or the dash at any point?

As mentioned above, the BECM won't even try to start the vehicle if it isn't in Neutral or Park - and it doesn't look like it is showing a gear up on the dash at all..
If no sign of what gear it is in on H gate or dash, then I would be checking the XYZ switch on the side of the gearbox, as it has a breather on it - which has probably been filled up with water too...
