Hi I have had my defender for about 6 months now , I tried to start it today after 4 days of non use and the battery was flat not even any dim dash lights , I connected some jump leads, and as soon as I did I could hear a motor spinning , it turned out to be the starter motor, no keys were in the ignition at the time ,had been driving through some puddles and a ford the last time I used it , is it related ? Do I need a new starter or just clean up the old one
Thanks in advance

You may get away with just cleaning it -properly

but I'd do the alternater as well

you should have checked all this when you got back after going through the ford,(as soon as possible)...
