I am now the proud owner of a range rover 4.6 hse, p38, R reg.
As it only gets occasional weekend use, my battery is frequently going flat.
Could anyone please reccomend the best replacement battery for this type of use, I have heard that a gel battery may be a better option, but have no idea where i might obtain one of these, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

yu sure its not you electronics being woken up and draining yo battery.

Replacing yo battery wont necessarily fix the problem. Thats the symptom, not the cause.

possibly i heard that they can get woken up if someone is using a mobile phone near it. how could i stop it being woken up?

Remove the antenna from the receiver its under the drivers side rear parcel shelf bracket. If it stops the battery drain then you need a new one. Only buy it NEW from a LR dealer or you may be ripped off with an old one.
The central locking will work but you will need to be nearer the car.

Just replaced my battery with a genuine LR, Just as cheap as Halfords non descript one.
What a difference, mine showed "plate faulty" with my my new battery charger so I asked the mechanic to change it when he calibrated the EAS.

Mine kept going flat after a few days, thought it might be the usual RF problems or leaky suspension etc. but is was just a faulty battery.

Remember to keep the power supplied while you change the battery or you will have to reset everything.

just out of interest, what battery have they installed on yours.
i was given a 069 for mine (as that was what was listed on all the motor factors cd's) after about 3-4 months , driving along and the car would go completely dead, after jump starting, took battery back under warranty, replaced with another 069, after 3-4 months same happened again. i then went to another supplier , and they listed a 072 , fitted that, got refund from other motor factor. no more problems for last 4 years(touch wood)

hi,072 battery is the right one,069 is for a tiddler of a car like a astra.
