Hi all,

In a previous post I explained how my tow light had come on and indicators weren’t working.

Since then I found the flasher unit to be full of water, and have bought a replacement from paddocks. I’m pretty sure it’s the right one, as the “2+1x21w” and “6x21w” matches what was on the previous unit.

I’ve just got it plugged in, and all my lights now work but the unit won’t stop clicking repeatedly! Is this a serious fault elsewhere, or a faulty unit etc? Any answers appreciated.
 
Do you have all filament lamps, all LED's or a misture of both?
If you have any LED's the problem is probably in the ballast unit.

The standard flasher unit works by warming up a bi-metallic strip when under load, it then bends and breaks the circuit, cools down to make it, warms up ... repeat, etc.
There must be some load being taken from somewhere to click it over!
However, if it were merely a rapid clicking when the indicator was activated, it would point towards a lamp being out.
... unless you have one of those electrickery flasher box unit thingies ...

The original hella unit does seem to have that metallic strip, in the form of a coil. The new one doesn’t, and there definitely isn’t a lamp out, so I’m guessing the new one is an electrickery thingy haha. Either way, I left the original one to dry out as a last ditch attempt and it works fine now! How long for, I don’t know!
 
The old thingies worked well after they got drowned and stopped working, and then they still worked after they dried out!
Please to hear that you got it all sorted out!
You will probably never have to replace it again in the next 50-or so years!
