As above really, sat nave more of a want than need as been managing with google maps on phone for a bit but id like one same

phone connectivity of some sort is essential, glass roof not fussed wither way but i know my daughter would like it i think

besides that just a decent car that's not got rotten rear arches ( or at least manageable )

it will be used on rough farm tracks in peak district ( now an NFU account handler) so will be going out on visits to sites and other small business so decent tyres will be a must

and comfort wise which ever seat be it electric or manual that gives the most leg room

You'll need an SE or upwards then, much like mine. ;)

assuming you've got leccy seats Nodge, whats the leg room like? i sat in 2 hse's so far and driven one (auto) you have any issues ?

Mine has electric non memory seats. I've no problem with legroom, as I'm a short arse at just 5'9".
It goes back far enough that I can't reach the pedals at all.

Thanks NOdge good to know

ive found this one which seems to fit the bill but its a later GS with bluetooth so it says but no sat nav

https://www.wirksworthcars.com/used-land-rover-freelander-derby-derbyshire-3056266

GS is one up from the base model, so looses loads of stuff compared to the SE, so I didn't even consider them. It's missing the heated half leather seats, and no heated front screen. I can't see if it has phone integration, as the steering wheel buttons aren't visible.

They they seem over priced, and being lower spec, will be difficult to sell on. I was looking for about 12 months, for the "right" car to come along, and I'm so glad I did. I'd only have regretted buying a lower spec FL2, so it was well worth me waiting for the one I wanted.

Heated screen is a must where i live thanks for heads up!

So you need to find a lower spec which has been up spec'd with the cold weather/winter pack, which adds HFS and heated seats, or go for an SE as a minimum spec, which is what I did.

That's why it took me so long to find one, as the colour, mileage, condition and spec all needed to be correct.

offer accepted on the Disco so ive £6k to play with

let the hunt begin in Ernest!

There are plenty of nice condition basic spec examples with moderate mileage about for that money.

If you don't mind higher mileage, then there are higher spec examples out there too.

I had a budget of just £3k, so that's how I ended up with mine. ;)

i'm allowing up to 120k ish don't want to go any higher than that

could go to 6500 for right car but credit card could do with some balance knocking off it lol

found a facelift one on autotrader in gs spec with leather and few other up specked bits and pieces but it is top end of budget

what is annoying that most are at dealers ( possibly covid related ) so its whats avalible now as cant afford to wait long without a car

Well I’ve looked at 3 fl2’s today, one was a rust bucket, one having new injectors tomorrow in the hope of curing a cold idle hunting, and finally a silver 2010 GS, 102k on clock and owner is mot’ing it this week, it had phone capability which is one of my main wants and a deal had been stuck at £4100

Recent general grabber tyres, new brakes all round (osr handbrake shoe may be a little tight as squeaks on that side in reverse ) but sure not will highlight that, if it passes,

will be throwing a cambelt & waterpump at it as well as servicing anything that moves in essence

Gives you some spare money 'justin case'.

I thought you were needing heated seats and windscreen as well as BT phone connectivity? Price is ok though. ;)

I’d had enough of just one afternoon of dragging the wife and 2 small kids 100 ish around south Manchester and Stockport looking at rubbish and thought sod it I’ll manage with a tin of de icer :D

Car itself in about 4 mile away, from the stereo menu its got blue tooth so possible a speced up car as its got folding mirrors, tinted rear windows , aux port too. And possibly cruise (will double check on that )

Cam belt, service everything and bloody good clean (seems to have been ex lorry garage runabout then the same for a stone transport company ) As its clean enough but just needs a deep clean before kids and wife go near it as at some point it has been smoked in by the smell

Steering wheel has seen better days (think 90’s ford ) so that may need replacing too

I wasn't in a hurry, preferring to wait and get the spec I wanted. I know I'd only be looking for another one later on, if it was missing half the stuff I wanted. Hence I only looked at SE and HSE spec models.

GS will have CC, probably the Alpine HU, but might not have the sub in the boot. It'll only have the BT phone installed, if it has the call and hang up buttons on the steering wheel. The Alpine HU has the phone button, but unless the wheel switches are there, it won't have BT connectivity.
Power fold I'm not sure, I know mine does.

Timing belt is easy enough to do, but you'll need the locking tools.

I looked at a couple that had been smoked in, but rejected them because of the smell of tobacco (ex smoker!!).

That's odd as my steering wheel is immaculate, although it is all synthetic, so I'm going to upgrade mine at some point.

You can buy smoke bomb things that burn oft to get rid of the smoke smell. Hire car and main dealers use them.

Time not on my side sadly, no car ,wife moaning about borrowing hers and weather closing in and I’m on motorbike to work tomorrow morning

Won’t do t belt myself not done one in years and don’t have time anyway, got good local info for that sort of stuff but may do Haldex filter myself so it’s done right

I think it’s the high grit atmosphere at the transport company that has done for the steering wheel

That's a good incentive to get one quick then.
There's nothing to stop you looking for the perfect one later on though, once you see you well they drive. ;)

Unfortunately I spent too long working in various garages, so I don't trust anyone but myself.

Probably. That would make sense.

I've found a wheel trimmer in Germany, who does beautiful steering wheels. Once mine is working correctly, and I've sorted out the few bits it needs, I'm going to treat it to a lovely steering wheel.
