So, having rectified a couple of issues on my HSE, the Mrs’ SE has decided to spring a leak. We noticed the coolant dropping very gradually over a number of weeks, we kept topping it up (very small amounts). There was no sign of any leak so my first thought was maybe that it was slowly expelling some trapped air. However as the weeks have gone on it has started dumping more and more until last night I noticed some drops of coolant on the belly pan. So after putting it up on some stands, dropping the pan and with much groaning and grunting I eventually found the source of the leak.

It seams to be coming from an elbow that sits on the back side and quite high up on the engine (gap between engine and bulkhead). I’ve attached a couple of pics, not great unfortunately as access was difficult. The first one shows roughly the point where the elbow exits the back of the engine. The other two are taken from underneath looking up the back of the engine.

I managed to get my fingers around it after removing a few parts and that is definitely the area of the leak, but as I said access was difficult. Is this a fix that can be done on the drive or is this likely to be another garage job.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It's likely one of the coolant pipes for the EGR cooler.

I'll see if I can dig out some pictures from when I did my engine repair and rebuild.

Here's the upper coolant connection to the EGR cooler. It's in the location you've arrowed.

The lower connection is on the left of this picture, but it's underneath, just above the turbo boost elbow.
