Hi guys, looking for some assistance if possible.
I’m having start up issues on my 2012 FL2 (78k miles). Always issues when cold, but increasingly happening in warmer temperatures. Only ever the first start of the day though when it’s sat overnight. Either cranks for 3-4seconds then starts, or more likely cranks and almost cuts out before it starts. Been to a LR specialist and no codes are thrown up on diagnostic. List of things already replaced: x4 glow plugs, glow plug relay, oem fuel filter, x4 new Bosch fuel injectors, battery, cleaned map and maf sensors. Nothing seems to have worked and I’ve chucked almost £1500 at it. Any help massively appreciated as always. Thank you

Were the correct 5 Volt plugs fitted? This age vehicle has a glow control module, so was that replaced?
Has the throttle body been checked for correct functionality? £1500 for all that work sounds cheap, as the injectors are new HP lines cost more than that, as new Bosch injectors are best part of £1k, especially whem new HP lines are fitted, as per standard guidelines. The injectors also need coding to the ECM, or the engine won't run correctly.
It sounds like it's just having parts thrown at it, without doing proper diagnosis of the issue it's having.

Seconded expert knowledge which we learn from, and is most appreciated by 99.9% of the owners always some who don't best thing is don't answer any of their calls for help soon they realise that is how the forum works helping each other.

Hi Nodge! Thanks for the reply. Yes the correct plugs were fitted, and at the same time the control module was replaced. Throttle body has been checked, and all was ok. It just had the injectors, not the HP lines - garage never spoke about this. Injectors were coded to the ECM though. I managed to pick up a brand new set of 4 Bosch injectors for less than £700. Ever since the injectors were changed there has been a humming noise when driving (similar to tyre noise) - not sure what this could be, buts its quite irritating.. The garage is struggling to find the problem, hence they just keep changing parts sadly. Appreciate your advice as always

I'd be wanting to see some live data from the ECM. Especially HP rail pressure figures on cranking. If there's insufficient rail pressure, the ECM will delay injection until the rail pressure is high enough for correct injection to take place.

Cheers Nodge. Garage checked this over last time and didn’t report any issues. Coolant levels have dropped considerably since the injectors were changed randomly

I’ve just attached my own Bluetooth obd reader on and got the below fuel rail pressure on cranking. In addition to the poor start, the humming noise when driving is really quite bad since the injectors were all

changed. Never made the noise before. Any ideas? Thanks as always

Hi, the one I purchased isn't available anymore, however it was just a cheap £20 Bluetooth one from Amazon. All you need to do is download the corresponding link on your mobile.

I'm still have starting issues. The following has been done in the last 12 months - new battery, new LR fuel filter, 4 brand new Bosch fuel injectors, 4 new glow plugs, new glow plug control module, new cambelt, extra earth from battery to gearbox & another to starter motor, non return valve added to fuel line, new camshaft sensor, new crankshaft sensor, EGR delete. Fuel pressure has been tested an is ok. Compression has been tested and is ok.

Thank you for your answer. There are many OBD2 devices on the market. I want to make sure that it will work in my car when I buy it. If you have the opportunity, I would appreciate if you specify the model. The problem with my car is that it does not start when the weather is cold. It works after trying 3 or 5 times and then there seems to be no problem. I had the fuel pump revised. It seems to be fine for now, but the weather has not cooled down completely.

Try adding the extra earth from battery to the starter motor bolt, that should help if you have not done so already what FL2 do you have ie year model etc.

Sorry for the late reply. It is a 62 plate GS. It already has the extra earth, but going to upgrade it from 170amp to 240amp.
