How do you remove the glovebox on a Freelander 2? I blew a fuse earlier fitting led bulbs to interior lights and cannot work out how to remove the glovebox.

Why is there a fuse box behind it?

Push the arms in/out it will dropdown.

Ok, goes from bad to worse. Wiggled the glovebox out, broke a plastic clip which it attaches to the inner dashboard and after all that-no fusebox. :(

Problem for me, is im recovering from a stroke and my hands do not do what i want them to. Just fed up with all this.

So I blew a fuse doing mine recently, you may not need to remove the glovebox.

Get down into the passenger footwell, there's a cover at the back under there. You should be able to push two tabs in and rotate the panel out, unveiling some of the fusebox and the fusebox diagram on the back

If not we'll come back and do glovebox destructions

After a more thorough read

Oh bugger it's off already

Well supposedly you're looking for a 7.5A fuse in F17 but it still ought to be under there somewhere

Lower it and pull down on the clip at the back of the box centre above.

Also press in the gas strut so it pops out.

You will see where it clips in either side of the box.

Most likely a gremlin if you have not touched anything else, disconnect the battery for 30mins, failing that you need to get some diagnostics on it.

Make sure the battery is fully charged. The battery will die in about 15 minutes of playing about, as these vehicles use huge amounts of power, just by messing around inside.
Also make sure all the electrical connections at the fuse are sound.
To be honest, it's best not to mess with these vehicles at all. The electronics are far to easy to damage, even by changing bulbs. The system was designed for proper incandescent bulbs, so it's best to leave them as such. It's not like the lights are poor anyway. It if ain't broken, don't try to fix it.

Just thought i'd post an update with my Freelander 2.

I fixed it yesterday but involved replacing every single fuse in the car-whether it needed it or not. Did you know Freelander 2's have three fuse boxes?

I just yanked the fuses out, looked at the rating and replaced with fresh one. It took another 5 minutes for the system to sort its self out but the engine was running atleast. Has been a crappy learning curve.

Admin-you might want to put a sticky on your forum to warn others from installing led lighting into a vehicle which wasn't designed for it.

Why not just run a continuity check with an multimeter on them? You can check a whole board in seconds, without removing anything.
Did you find a blown one anywhere, once removed?

To be honest, i'd already plugged in a scanner into the obd and that came up with nothing so just thought i'd replace all the fuses. Off the top of my head, the ones which were visibly blown and not working were the horn and interior lights.

I dont posses a multimeter which would have been the problem.

The longer you can get through life without one, the better and less stressful your life will be.

For sure, they are great little devices that tell you stuff only they can and save you many hours checking shit.

But, when ever I use one, which is actually reasonably often, I age a couple of months with stress and anger.

Which fecking icon do I want to turn the fecking dial to? Which fecking hole do I plug the red wire into? Which fecking scale do I want this fecking thing set to? Why the feck does it say feckin 0.0? Why won't it do what I want it to? Now its just spewing out lots of different random fecking numbers. PLEASE just tell me what I'm wanting to know! So its fuse has blown - who the feck did that? I've changed the fuse, still says 0.0. You fecking little fecking feck thing.

Youtube it is.... right. OK so that took 2.6 seconds to set it up and find the number.

I can relate to that!
