Going to work it is a bit stop, starty with a few islands and a steep hill for about 150 mtrs. Going home there's 4 islands inthe first mile but then it's mostly dual carriageway home. Each way is 6.5 miles.
Mine doesn't have a dpf. I've removed the egr blanking plate to see if that improves things although I doubt it.
 
You do about the same distance to work as me. Mine is an old 2005 TD4 auto. Mine does 28 or 29 MPG, depending on the season.
 
6.5 miles! Your car won't have had a chance to warm up. It will hang on to low gears until the gearbox warms up. Yep, sub-30 mpg, especially if it's cold outside.
 
My 2011 FL2 sd3 LE sport Auto I used to own only returned mpg in the twenties and I got a bluespark magic box that claimed 10 % improvement but to be fair was hardly noticeable I tried it on economy never on sport enhancement I couldn't afford to keep the vehicle and have now gone over to a FL1 TD4 manual I'm going for a EGR bypass full service kit just to get YOU MORE EXPERIENCED FORUM MEMBERS into the discussion the addition of TWO STROKE OIL in my fuel for a cleaning regime I'm sure you've come across the tech arguments for and against but there was an article written by a PetroChemical industry chemist in Germany about 30 pages long that convinced me some years ago it made sense.

Assuming yer spend 2 to 3 minutes queueing at each island int morning the 25 to 27mpg is about right int real world. The autos always use a bit more fool than manwells.

The FL2 is more fool efficient than the FL1 but not by much when yer queueing and stop starting int traffic a lot. Crusing on the open road is when yer notice the difference but not by much. 6th gear makes a difference when crusing at speed. I'm guessing yer average speed is about 22 to 24mph ont dash?

Those OBD2 plug in boxes are a con. They are electonic snake oil in its purest form.
They literally take power off OBD2 socket, so the electronics can put some LEDs on, in various sequences.

There's absolutely no way an OBD2 plug in device can alter the way an engine is fueled, unless it flashes the ECU's ROM, which it can't do.

The unit I fitted was placed between the supply wires and socket of the fuel rail and boost pressure sensors it is a CR TECH 2 tuning module and has its own programming it cost over a hundred pounds so should be ok

That's a diesel engine "fudge" device. They work by tricking the ECU into running out of spec. This will add extra fuel and increase boost. That's all it can do to change how the engine performs. There's a similar device for the FL1 called a Ron Box or Synergy. It too fudges the EDC into running the engine out of spec. It's useful for adding extra power for towing and the like, but far from ideal.

There are claims of increasing power or economy, but they can't actually improve economy.
No plug in device can improve economy, regardless of what the marketing **** says.

The only way to improve over the original tune, if to have the ECU remapped. This will improve both performance and or economy, depending on how it's driven.

This is something that a box which connects to the rail pressure sensor and MAP sensor can't do.

Yer can get it up to 51mpg ont cruise at 50mpg constant ont level motorway. It'll leave the v6 behind by 2 seconds to 60mph. If yer had a v8 yer wouldn't have a Freelander so it would need welded every other weekend. ;)
