Hello all.
As above really.

I have read some archive threads on it, and they refer to a clock spring? I take it that this resides in the steering wheel and makes a connection as the steering wheel turns?
The threads also mention using connectors not in use like the CC. Would the clock spring still have to be changed?
Out of all this, I take it the steering wheel has to be stripped down or can this job be done from the back of the wheel?
Also, if a clock spring were needed, is it an ebay item?

Sorry. Should mention, I do have a Haynes manual and will refer to it. There good but, would rather ask here first.

Usually the clock spring as wires break. Easier to replace with one like this.

If you lock car with tailgate window down the horn should sound. If it does best best is to change the above.

Disconnect battery and wait for all systems to discharge say 30 mins.

Then take off steering wheel air bag, wheel and clock spring is straight swap with plugs.

Be sure to set steering straight ahead before you start. The new clock.spring will be locked in straight ahead position. Maybe remove a clip or cable tie before fitting. Suppliers vary.

Not a difficult job.

I'll refer to the manual on how to take apart the steering wheel also. Would it be wise to mark the wheels position before removal? Can this be done?
Will try the rear tailgate tomorrow.

Drive in straight and if the wheel is set to the straight ahead position correctly then just remove wheel and don't turn anything !!
there are 2 x torx bolts set into holes in the rear of the steering wheel - bit tricky to find as they are set in a distance but find the correct male Torx on an extension bit and away you go.

Wheel is a nut and then disconnect plugs to the clock spring or rotary coupler as it is called sometimes.

Did the job today. I made it more difficult in my head , than doing. Not hard to do really.
