Hi All.
I have a 2007 (07 Plate) Freelander 1 - M47R Engine - Yes Definitely a Freelander 1 Facelift 3 Door Adventurer.
When I get in the car - key in ignition, turn the key, sometimes the temp gauge will shoot to the top with the red warning light..
3 Amigos - sometimes 2.
Turn the key and it can sometimes turn over and fire normally..
or turn the key and it might turn over for about 30seconds.. then the LPFP will be heard and it fires up.
Turn the key - turns over - gauges look normal - not LPFP - then the pump kicks in after about 15 seconds. and it fires.
I have changed:-
Ignition Switch for a brand new Genuine one
Fuse Board under the bonnet
Fuse board under the steering wheel
Cant remember if I changed the CCU.
I have added additional earths from the ECU to the Battery -ve terminal.
Inspected the Ignition switch loom to wiring harness / fuseboard.
Replaced GlowPlugs.
no error codes - except low pressure - which I expect as the fuel pump isnt running straight away.

I have NOT changed the immobiliser box behind the clocks, nor have I changed the pickup coil around the ingintion switch.
Has anyone else had this issue.
ironically.... if its damp / cold weather - it starts up straight away.
All Live Data for HPF Rail and LPFP looks good.
Today saw a new fault where any fob didn't really want to unlock the car - so I'm going to swap the CCU this week.

any takers????

That's a lot of issues, all of which would be connected to the CCU. I'd be checking for corrosion on the connections at the CCU.

CCU isn't connected to |Immobiliser though - I've started the later models without the CCU even connected..
BUT.. i did take the CCU out - checked the connections and contact cleanered the plugs on the end of the harness.
Also replace CCU for good measure - reprogrammed the fobs - starts either on the button, or takes a while to turn over before firing up... either way - it's not changed anything.
Looks like i have additional wiring loom chasing to do - possibly the dash out :-(

Just been re reading this. There are a few issues that sound like a bad connection, but the starting and lack of low pressure pump running and fault code for low pressure fuel could be a faulty low pressure pump!!
When they fail they won't start and then a tap on the pump gets them running.
Next time you turn on and the lp pump doesn't run tap it smartly on the pump case. If that starts it change the pump, then look at the other lesser issues.

HI. so it happened today... I kicked the pump, but still no joy.. .the temp gauge shot up and down a couple of times per second... the 3 amigos lit up,
I kept turning off the ignition switch (brand new) and when i got fed up, I left the ignition on.. the temp gauge stabilised at the bottom.. the pump buzzed and i knew it would start straight away.
even started, I had two of the amigos lit... turn off the ignition and restart and the lights go off and it drives as though there hasn;t been a problem.
one started, there are no fault codes. Low fuel pressure is a 340 to 350 Kpa - HPFR Sensor showing just under 30000kpa
I will change the pump over the next few days.... I have one... just not got around to getting the car on the two poster and getting underneath it.
