I'd go for a S or GS, diesel auto.
They had a sale on for white or black only models, which were cheaper than the lowest price FL2, but with a better spec, recently. Not sure if it's still a deal available. the higher models have the toys you don't always needs. Like sat navs. I've got a portable one so I wouldn't need a fitted sat nav.

yes, big phil, i would have to agree with elvis 33k would be better spent on a d3. in my view a33k fl2 is a 20 k fl2 with 13ks worth of toys, sure there is some one out there who does not agree though tim.

Big Phil. I bought my 2010 FL2 brand new in April with a good discount. I had the GS model which is the best value for money. £25k list price but I got £1750 off. If you can drive a manual then buy that because it is far superior to the auto. Autos are better for towing or off roading for sure but other than that it is a waste of money. I have tried a couple of auto FL2's and they are smooth enough normally but kick down is too jerky and it revs too much before changing gear. The manual box is very smooth and not only is it cheaper to buy and more economical but 2 road tax bands lower since they fitted the stop/start system. Also, get the MY10 and don't wait for the 'new shape' MY11. It is not as nice looking and is a bit of a step down in my opinion.

Having just bought my six month old FL2 HSE Auto yesterday I would say it depends on what you want. I appreciate you pay more for your toys but that does not bother me. I want a car as new as possible, looks fab and a touch different. Mine has privacy glass and upgrade alloys and looks special. The luxury is fantastic and the auto is a dream so don't know what our friend was talking about? Having drove the very well respected VW DSG box for four years, this FL2 is better. I paid £29k by the way

I too thought the auto was a dream as it was the first FL2 I drove but then I drove the manual and it was no contest. Don't get me wrong though, the auto is nice and smooth normally it was just the jerky kick down and over revving that put me off. I just can't see the point in paying extra for the auto which will then cost more to run and tax but as Dazza says, it depends what you want. I could of got a used HSE for the price of my new GS but I just prefer the GS to the XS or HSE. Just the right amount of kit with the GS with cold climate pack added. Too much stuff on the other 2 that I would never get the use out of. Unless you are into loads of added stuff, stick with GS Big Phil.

I paid £18K for the wife's 2010 MY GS TD4_e Brand new (20% (£5K) employee discount & £2K scrappage allowance) Had a heated screen fitted for a couple of hundred quid extra.
Would very much like to have a HSE, but a lot of money!! Very pleased with what we have above
I notice that they are doing Disco 4 GS TDV6 2.7 for under £27K on the employee discount - very tempting, but skint now

As a brand new Land Rover virgin! has anyone ever been on the LR experience days. Got my voucher yesterday and so excited but I believe they are a bit scary aswell. My wife drives the car most of the time and she is in love with it already. As for me I'm just a big kid who loves gadgets so the HSE is perfect!!!
Do it at the one in Cheshire, the lads / lasses thier are great.
It's not a sell sell sell day, when I went it was 30% tarmac 70% off-road, it get you to believe just how good the FL is off road without risking your new pride and joy.
Some of the gadgets don't make much sense until you are crossaxled in a few inches of mud with one wheel a foot in the air. Or desending a very steep hill with both feet off the pedals.
trouble is you will probably end up fighting with the Mrs for who drives, they have been known to let you swap, but will she?

I went to Eastnor and completed the courses in a FL2 auto. Was very capable - just keep your foot pressed and the traction control guides you through.
Won't be using our new one off road - felt a lot of bangs / scrapes on the Experience one and wouldn't want to spoil
