If it's the rear safari door/Series/Mil spec one, and the pic of the red one looks like it is, then you will need MTC6504.
Try jamming a screwdriver into the key hole as you need to jiggle the lock about whilst pressing in the tab in the hole.....

On mine (MUC4146) there is no hole in the barrel holder and access is via the hole in back of the lock, accessible from inside; undo the lock tab and shake proof washer and retaining screw and jiggle away; don't forget two 5mm ball bearings which might fall out!

Thanks, yes it is the red ones
I’ll see if I can shake it. I can see the lock moving slightly but so far can’t see the bit to press. Might need the key turning more.

I ended up drilling mine out; bit of a bugger but I couldn't get it out any other way (no key either).
I don't think you need worry about the ball bearings, they were only in the early Santana locks.

Well guys, who’d have thought it!

Popped around to see an old guy who has a draw full of old keys, and one fitted. Turned the key, pressed the tab and pulled both barrels out!

My instant thought was to clean them up and use this key! Then my sense took over. So does this look like a MTC6504? Need to order some new ones now.

Anyone want some MUC4146’s?

Looks like one of these....

Not sure if MTC6504 will fit as it's for 93-97 push button door handles.
The older Ninety/Oneten versions used MUC2290/1 & MUC6979/80 latches with MUC4146 and both are NLA!
It's confusing as the lock assemblies and barrels changed with model years.

Old Landy keys are virtually interchangeable; I've heard a coat hanger or plastic fork works just as well :D

The front doors on my '85 Ninety are MUC2290/91 which are NLA; they have a tab for the push down lock button and the remote opener, and use the MUC4146 keys; I originally bought MTC6504 keys but didn't fit.
Lock assemblies for early 90/110 are MUC2290/91 superseded with MUC6979/80 which are also NLA!!!
For the rear safari door I used a new lock assembly P/N 395037 as on http://www.paddockspares.com/395037-door-handle-rh-anti-burst-defender-rear-safari-door.html with RTC3022 keys which have the P/N 395056.

In my spare? time I like picking locks and simple old locks like those are a doddle, especially when they are well-worn.
You can get a complete set of auto-jigglers for very little money (£14) and a simple set of lock picks for about £7 and this last item is ideal for undoing the locks on car-clamps.

I have a feeling mine are the Anti Burst ones you mention last with the locks Safari door is also the RH front door. They also do the LH front door here......

Best case, I buy them and they fit! Worst case I buy a set of locks and they don’t fit. If so, just buy a set of those locks as they say part number 395056 works with them.

My Landy’s built out of pieces rather than being a specific year, so it’s hard to search for specific bits.

Sounds familiar. Mine was built in 85 as a lhd and exported to Austria, it then reappeared & first registered in the UK in 88 as a rhd!

Is yours ex mil 90? I ask because the civvy ones have a remote door opening facility and only one handle on the outside (see pic), whereas mil spec has two handles and no remote opener, so the inner handle is by your elbow, like a Series door.

When I got the Anti Burst one as in the Paddocks link above, it would not fit my front door, the design was quite different. If your has mil spec doors then it'll fit (I think).

Hello, does anyone know where I can get the barrel lock holder for the lift up handles. I have the barrels but these holders are impossible to find. If you have some lying around I’d be happy to buy them off you. Thanks a million

Hey Dutchie, you ever get this sorted? If not I've spent some time (from your photos, thanks) making a 3D model of the holders. I 3D printed it out and works perfectly, happy to share the design if you (or anyone else) want?

Planning to get them machined out of metal, but that's long term, currently they're working great as is

Hi, for anyone that might need new or spare keys i can recommend Keymoon , i used them to get 2 spare door keys cut to the code on my key, they also do ignition keys.

ordered on a saturday and they arrived on tuesday, 15 pound or so for 2 and they come with the new code on them. they also cut to a picture of the key. their range is huge!
