I would just get them out the box, fit them, then off you go. They will be back off in 6months, I fitted some on my disco, after a couPle of pay and plays a few rocky tracks they were shot.. I've got britpart cellular dynamics at the min and there cool. :D butt the pro comps do ride well on the road. :)

I read if fitted poorly they'll break in short order however if fitter properly they're fine mostly as many people are saying so... keep it positive anyway as already have them ordered ;)

Trying to find out what exactly "fitted poorly" is and what I need to do to fit them right... anyone?

Make sure to tighten the nuts on the axle mount. ;)

From what I read on gwyn lewis' info:
Use gwyn's isolation washers to help prevent the pin wearing.
Use a nylock nut to replace the ones that come with (originals come loose).
Don't over tighten said nuts as there is too much thread on the pin (over tightening limits flex in the bush and can cause the pin to break off).
Don't clip the boots in place (doing so may trap water/moisture and cause rust).
Grease the chrome rod to help prevent rust forming.

Have you bought pin to pin type shocks from gwyn? Not sure on my disco's but i think you'd have to change turrets and rear mounts for those.

Did my shocks not so long ago. just take your time, changing a shock isnt difficult. The rears are really easy, nothing in your way at all. Fronts are a little fiddlier, but not hard. should take you a couple of hours i think.

You will need a big pair of grips to hold you shocker while u undo the bottom nut on the front!!

Start spraying WD40 everyday untill you fit them.

I used a pipe wrench, and scratched the **** out of mine. Would suggest a strap wrench.

I bought one from machine mart yesterday for £8. no :5bspam: here

No they're from paddocks not gwyn. I just saw the info on an ebay listing and sounded useful.

I've helped fit brit part front shocks before so not too bothered about doing it, just wanna get it spot on with the pro comps as people seem to have them break/fail on them when fitted badly... possibly from over tightening?

more like weak welds ,you shouldnt be able to over tighten, you should run out of thread before that happens if shocker is made correctly

I only used grips to remove old ones!!
New ones I held with my hand, been on two years and no problems??

Before a smart person comes along, YES I used spanner on the nut and was tight but don't need to be super tight due to rubber bushes
