Hi all,
I am trying to locate a power steering box or entire kit for a n/a 2.5 diesel 1985 110,
I don't want to spend more than absolutely necessary, but don't know exactly what bits are needed, some say a three bolt box others a four, anyone know for certain?

I don’t think the box matters particularly. The biggest problem I think will be the pump mount (which iirc is part of a very rare alternator bracket), and crank pulley. I can’t remember very well but I think parts from a 200tdi may fit but don’t hold me to that.
This thread on another forum may help.

Below is the link to the parts book (which can also be found in the thread above). Page 103 should help with the pump end of things (it’s petrol engine but think it’s the same)

200tdi parts fit just fine.

You need the later triple pulley on the crank

PAS box (4 bolt is stronger)

Pas pump and mount (200tdi version worked for me I just ran 2 belts one for alt and one for pas)

Hydraulic lines

Reservoir bottle and mount

Pas fluid

Littlerally swap over bleed and it works.

Best bet would be to take the entire kit if a breaker tbh. Then you know you have all you need.

Find an early tdi or turbo diesel and take it all from that

Depending on what is out there on Fleabay, it can be cost effective to buy a whole engine with pump/bracket/pulley. When I looked a few years ago the triple pulleys were hard to get/expensive on their own. There are plenty of 4 bolt steering boxes for sale. The existing steering shaft will connect directly up to the power steering box.

Much as I'd love to, a 200tdi engine swap will cost me much more in labour etc
It may do, but you could just buy the whole engine, strip the parts off you need and then resell the engine for almost the same price. I have done this with parts before that are very expensive on there own.
