hi all i brought a voltmeter, oil temp gauge, and a boost gauge for my disco the only down side is im not 100% on how to wire/plumb them up may you could help......

the voltmeter as a + and -wheres the best place to connect them too?

the oil temp as sensor1 ,sensor2, + and E where do they connect too?

and the boost gauge i can just about manage but wheres the best place to T off from for the vacuum pipe?

thank you for your help its most appriciated cheers..............................

Voltmeter is easy, just wire -ve to earth and tap the +ve onto a switched live somewhere.

The oil gauge will need a sender unit, this fits down by the oil pressure switch usually with a t-peice, will need the same +ve as the voltmeter and a ground too.

The boost can be teed anywhere in the line going to the fuel pump but there is usually a blanking plug on the back of the plenum which is the best place as this will display actual boost pressure at the inlets.

All gauges will need a light supply from the ciggy lighter lamp etc.

Where are you mounting them ? And with what ? Subject has come up a few times recently

Aaah , I am hearing this more and more often ....time to look at local yards methinks .

yh mate. my mates got his own garage and as had them lying around for a while so i hooked them up as you can see buy the pic there bang on. in the pic the gauges are just placed in there lol

Given the choice I would go for an oil pressure gauge but its all one in the end . Thanks for posting the pics , its given me some fresh ideas ;)

I like that, looks good down there. Good effort.

Can I ask where abouts you plumbed in your boost gauge?

Thanks,
Foz

must say that looks really good but I tried something very similar and they ended too close to the hi/low lever and you couldnt select properly!! have you cut the back of the console out for clearance??

oh connecting boost gauge I used top intercooler pipe. if you remove egr valve your left with a blank on the turbo which I used to fit a egt gauge sender and a blank on the top hose which I used for boost gauge, both seem to work well and easy to remove if I change vehicle.
