hello i have a 95 p38 hse and wanna fit my alpine head unit can any one tell me how to get around the amp ??

"Amps". There are amplifiers in each door, and one in the boot for the sub / subs.

You'll need cross overs for each door as well, three way for the fronts, and more likely than not three ways for each rear door as well - only because nobody seems to do a "Mid / Bass" crossover without it being three way.

Then you'll need an amp for the sub(s) in the boot, and an adaptor so you can use both radio aerials with the Alpine - one tends not to be enough to get a reliable signal.

Have fun.

That's good news. I might be able to put my Nakamichi into mine then.

I was just going off what I've read on the net, and that I had to change an amp in mine the other day.

I'd have thought that two aerials were better than one though...

Cheapest and most reliable way to do it is to run new speaker wires to each of the speakers..... ball ache i know but it is the easyest.leave the amps out.
this way the alpine will use the 4x45 internal amp.
Just my opinion.

Mick

The stereos internal amp won't have crossovers for each speaker, so I'd want to fit them.

No point in putting 20khz through a woofer, or indeed 20hz through a tweeter.

fair point, but you can get x overs from most good car audio shops , jbl , alpine etc all sell them seperate ,

i am not to sure if the speakers are indvidualy fed or just each door , in which case you wouldn't need the x overs as you would be powering them into the x over not to each speaker direct if you know what i mean???

I got the new Alpine up-to-date Ipod head unit with bluetooth hands free fitted into my P38. I took it into a place that fits units and they where able to fit it through the Amps and Sub so i know its possible. The only thing they couldnt connect was the steering wheel controls. This could probibly be done but it would have taken a lot longer and im an impatiant bugger.

I recently fitted a Blaupunkt Woodstock bluetooth set in my Rangie. I had no complications fitting it. Although I believe if you have the Harmon Kardon upgrade amp and speakers it's a different story.

did you get any luck with you headunit change mate? i have a harmon kardon system aswel its a hse spec RR

im looking to change mine whats the best way to get the best sound with out spending too much

There seems to be a broard spectrum of 'things that work' when connecting up and aftermarket headunit, this is becuase it normally depends on what is already fitted in to you motor. I have a 95 HSE that had the stock clarion radio and HK speaker set with amps in the doors. There is a good write up on rangerover that talks you through building an attenuator circuit that plugs between the wiring harness in the rangie and an iso compatable stereo. This was the only solution that allowed me to retain the usage of the factory amps - you could of course bypass them as suggested earlier but the attenuator method is (with a bot of soldering practice) the easiest and cheapest method (IMHO) of fitting an aftermarket stereo to a clarion/HK 95 4.6 HSE.

does any one have a wiring diagram for the stereo wires on a p38 mines a 1996 with the harmon kardon system

i connected a after market stereo to the wiring using a special adapter which a company sells on ebay the unit powers up but no sound comes out any one no why or

does anyone know which colour the remote amp wire is on the rannge rover wiring

i think you should go into business, i'd buy one !

is it the same for a 2002 Vogue SE with the alpine HK unit ?

Hi don't lknow if this helps I just had header unit fitted p38 I know of a company that can get round the system they know it inside out they just sorted mine. Works well. Contact me if you need number. They gave all codes supply and fit

when i got mine it came with standard headunit i took that out and plugged in my old sony that had iso plugs on it and worked straight away then i changed it for alpine that worked then i changed it again to a pop out touch screen dvd player/stereo and that all works ok never had any probs with no sound or need 2 ariels and the only thing i could see you needing depending on your stereo wiring is a lead to convert from your stereo to an iso plug and poss ariel adaptor
