Guys

Just bought some more field and need to use the Landy (Defender 90, 1994) to drag some old posts out etc.

No Jate Rings or Tow Bar at the moment, so thought the time has come to fit a tow bar - will be useful for bikes etc.

Have searched and played Google, but a little confused as to what provides the best solution (not bothered about electrics for now), combining ease of fitting and price.

Thinking of a kit approach and adjustable height - Dixon-Bate coupling?

Seen these three:

Dixon-Bate Web Site - Towing

:: Duckworth Land Rover Defender Pre 07 Towing & Carrying Accessories

DEFENDER 90/110 DIXON BATE ADJUSTABLE DROP PLATE KIT PRE 99 VEHICLES AND NON US SPEC - RTC8828AA - Land Rover Parts & Range Rover Parts

Couple of questions please:

1) Will these do what I want

2) Is dixon-bates own product better (it's more money!) than the same from Craddocks

3) Any better recommended kits? Links would be great

4) Anything to be aware of when fitting?

Cheers all

If a disco one will fit you can have mine once my tank guard with tow drop plate and nato hitch arrives

I would be careful with which tow bar you fit. I'm not familiar with 90's but I had the wrong one on my 110. I had a series tow bar which could have twisted the rear cross member. It had a NATO hitch on it. The one I have now as well as being bolted to the cross member is also bolted to the rear chassis by two arms. This one will pull anything.

Well done.
On a 110 the two arms bolt through the hole for the Jate rings so if you want to fit those also you might have to drill new holes. I have a pair of jate rings but never bothered fitting them as the tow bar looks sturdy enough.
Good luck

My thinking exactly:) Looking forward to fitting this weekend - been busy with horses last few weekends so will be good to get back under the Landy

I should get under mine this weekend and clean off all the winter salt and give it a grease up. I also need to connect my diff lock warning light which has never worked since I had it.
