Hi guys
Ive bought a steering guard for my defender 90 and have a query regarding fitting.
It comprises two brackets - each one has two fitting points which bolt onto the towing point bolt and another bolt a little further back.
On the driver side this is fine but on the passenger side the guard bracket has a hole in it, to accommodate a "bar" (now you can see my knowledge limitation!) which looks like some type of horizontal shock absorber which is working with the steering rack. So it appears that to fit one of the brackets I need to remove this Bar/shock absorber/thing(!) to feed this bracket through it before i fix it to the bolt points and my question is...what happens when I remove the "bar" at one end? Do I need to jack the Landy up, will something collapse, is it a two man job etc?
Advice appreciated - not majorly mechanically minded as you can probably tell (two stroke engines a couple of decades ago was my limit) but would quite like to get it done myself!
Cheers.
