I...fitted the bottom part to the side vent.
Took off interior trim panel
Taped electrics out the way
Taped mounting brackets in place
Marked holes
Drilled Holes (use a drill thats slightly too small, its fiddly to get the bolts in, so if you do it slightly too small, say 1 mm, it threads and you bolt in)
Bolted on mounting brackets
Attached top straight section
Attached corrogated hose
Attached mushroom top
Sealed all

That finished at 2330, started at 2100, with a trip to Macdonalds halfway through, and 3/4 fags consumed.

Hopefully the silicones all dried, so I'm going to go and test it now.

Unfortunately no pics, because it didn't go exactly how I wanted it to all the way through, and the pics would be no good.

i fitted a bearmach safari style snorkel, it was an absolute nightmare, got there in the end, but ended up doing it in the dark and having to fabricate another bracket!

hi,

did you end up fitting your snorkel?

I've just been out trying to fit mine, its exactly the same as yours, but mine goes on the passenger side, looking at the shape of yours, that one was on the drivers side??

only got to taking the side vent out... and gave up!

the instructions say to take the inner plastic in the vent, so i can fit one of those foam gasket things...... how am I supposed to get to it?????
I can't get it out!! the heater box is on the way, surely i dont need to take the heater box out?

and then it comes with some clips to use in there with allen key bolts? did you use it there?

ok, been out a bit more calm and had another look..

the inner plastic in the vent does have to come out as I have to cut the plastic gromets out and fit metal clips to which the allen key bolts will hold on to.

the foam gasket has to be put between the inner plastic and the wing, the metal clips go on the inner plastic, then put another gasket foam between the wing and the snorkel exit on the vent...and then use the allen key bolts to hold the snorkel side exit to the inner plastic in the vent (by means of the metal clips) and therefore pushing all together against each bit (plastic inner, foam gasket, wing, foam gasket and snorkel side exit)

So now, I know how all goes in and what bit does what.. but still left with the problem on how the fk to I take that inner plastic out the wing?

any ideas?

told ya how tube of silicone original screws jobs done

isnt there an easy way of taking that plastic inner bit out then?
what is the proper way of taking it out anyway? is it removing the heater box out of the way?

because i also wanted to make sure the connection between the inner plastic and the hose that goes to the air filter was properly sealed...
