Lucifus, just a quick query.

What colour is the paint in the back of your landy as I want to give mine a touch up in a colour matching the RadHaz kit and your's is a spot on match?
 
I like the look of that - I'm gonna get one myself for the 90, the roll up sides will be ideal if I have anything in the back or for kipping in there (once I sort somewhere to sleep!) There are a few on eBlag at the moment so a cheeky bid is in order.

I've been having an internal debate on what to do with the interior throughout winter, seems like a great time to finally insulate it...

Anyone off this thread bidding on one at the moment? Don't want to make it more expensive for a fellow Landyzone bod
 
I think I may have stomped on a couple of members at the week-end when I bought my two, but the kits are so cheap (starting at 99p) I didn't mind paying £7 each for mine.
 
Bought mine the other day and fitted it today. Anybody got round how to attach the straps above the rear door? I have to say it looks the dogs nuts and heats the inside up so quickly!! Just a bit annoyed I didn't get the fume curtain with my kit!

The fume curtain isn't included in the kit ... My plan for the back end is to use hinges. I've bought six brass plated ones, the type with a bar as the pivot point, and I will bolt them onto the roof, with the bar to the rear after I have dismantled them. The strap will pass through and around the bar. Give me a few minutes and I will dismantle one and put a pic up.

On the left you see an original hinge, and on the right is after I dremmled one.

I'll screw that to my roof with a little sillycunt to seal everything. There is enough room for the strap to pass round the bar.

oh and they are only 98p for two in B&Q

ye ive fixed an inch square wooden block to the roof over the top of each strap end using adhesive (silkaflex) and then screwed through the strap and into the wooden block. this means that the strap is secured in place and can be pulled taut through the strap hoops and tensioned at the front using the supplied ratchet clips.
 
I just mugged someone for one on ebay, had to pay the hefty price of £11 for it but I'll be fitting it soon
 
The hinge thing looks a good idea. I don't fancy putting anymore holes in the roof though. It's an ex raf and if I took all the bolts out of the roof it would ressemble a collander on wheels!!!! I've got some real h/d no nails sort of stuff. Do you think that would be strong enough for the tension? On either the hinges or wood.

Where the hinge will be bolted through my roof I intend to attach another bit on the outside as I plan to add a canopy at the rear. I just need to decide the best means of attaching it first. Either Big press studs, or either one of two other kinds of fitting used for attaching soft tops to top of windscreens, but I don't know what they are called, yet.

So while I am on the subject, if anyone with a soft top could take a picture of how the canvas is attached to the top of the windscreen I would be very grateful. Especially if you happen to know what the clips are called and where I can get half a dozen or so.

Where did you find the half turn thumb screw things? I've been looking around and can't find them.
I'm fitting a new fuel tank tomorrow, MOT in the week and I'll be fitting the RADHAZ next weekend, I have a 90 so I should have some spare, I'll use it to insulate under the seat or something.

Good luck on the MOT, mine is booked for Friday (11th.) but I'm not expecting anything serious (famous last words and all that,) I've recently replaced all the wheel bearings and did the rear brakes while I was at it. Possible failure on a couple of brake pipes, but again an easy enough job to do during my week and a half holiday the following week. I also hope to start my camper conversion during this time and that will include the Rad Haz kit and awning idea, my conversion is a bit involved, but I'll start a thread of my own for it once I get going with it.

I'm looking forward to getting on with it as I had planned this when I bought it two years ago but just couldn't make up my mind about some of what I wanted.
 
The Landy in my profile pic was my old one kitted out for weekends away. Upping the anti with the new one. Gonna put in running water and inverter and bits. Work is very quiet at the moment so this project is going to take a while to fit out!
 
When I first got mine, I threw together a sleeping platform which doubles as storage boxes it's rough and ready, but it's good enough for me. A few years ago I used to use a small trailer which I laughingly referred to as my camping trailer. I had a 3000w petrol genny in it and a microwave, electric kettle, toaster etc. and I kept a big propane gas bottle for my stove. It meant I could finish work and hook the trailer on and go within minutes of getting home.
 
I'm putting a false floor in this one so I can hide my forestry kit underneath along with recovery gear and camping stuff. This rad haz kit has saved on buying plywood now! I will countersink and bolt stable matting on top of the ply. I just need to work out how to build the full length drawer underneath. I have basic carpentry skills!! Lol
