Hi there.

Long time Land Rover admirer and recent first time owner. I have a 1980 S3 SWB 2.25 Petrol hardtop. Had a recent rebuild (not by me) and it’s in very nice condition. I’ve been lurking a bit so thought it was time to say hello. Based in Hampshire, and using it more or less as my daily driver.

I have 2 questions - where is good for Series servicing etc near Farnham please?

Second is about warm starting and probably should be in a separate post - assume I put that on one of the other sections of the forum?

Thanks for having me and here’s a pic...

A series must be the easiest if green ovals to self service
Thanks.

Yes to doing most of it. I’ve worked on motorcycles a bit, so I’m ok with having a go. It’s more having a set of experienced eyes that could point me in the right direction if I get stuck. Is there a directory in here of places that are known / well regarded for Series work?

There are plenty of experiencing peoples on here, and they are all friendly, honestly! Don't be afraid of asking silly questions as even the most experiencing of the guys and gals on here had to start somewhere. :)

Welcome, I know much of the Farnham area quite well, can't say i'm aware of a series specialist though. I'm a mostly hopeless mechanic and i've managed to keep my series 2a going nicely. There's not much that you won't be able to do without a Haynes manual or advice from people on here. There's a fair few lanes in the area too, i reckon you could find someone nearby that could give you a little advice if it's needed.

Yes please post the series related issues over in the series section which can be found here: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/series-land-rovers.6/

Very nice pic as well, seems in good condition from that picture. Enjoy it.

Thank you. Already posted a question and am getting some helpful answers. I’m really enjoying owning her. Last owner and previous did the build including beamont gears, unleaded head, axles, chassis work etc. It drives really nicely and is a pleasure to trundle round the local lanes. I’m planning to take the roof off for the summer. Considering a soft top conversion and possibly an overdrive. I’ve already fitted bench seats and the kids enjoy the novelty.
Was very good in the recent snow too!
