I've had my 2001 4.0 HSE for about a week now with hardly any use but planned an overnight trip to my caravan 140mls there and back so checked all the levels etc.
I topped the coolant up to the level (about a pint or so) and when i got home and checked again when cold it took about a pint or so to take it back to the level again.
Runs well with maybe a slight misfire cruising at about 1500rpm but accelerates out of that no problem
Cruise control not working. Lights up on dash but no response from steering wheel.
Air con constantly blows hot air from vents. Warmest Ive been this year!
Ive read through some of the nightmare problems relating to the above but if anyone can give me any ideas on what to check I would appreciate it.
I have tried some of the links to the service manuals but they dont seem to work. Is there any recent links to the manuals or am I better ordering one from somewhere?

do a search on here and download the "RAVE MANUAL";)

I fixed my Cruise this week by trimming some of the rubber pipes into the T link, check these aren't split as they create the vacuum for the cruise ( i think).

As for aircon, mine doesn't work either and probably wants refreshing, or whatever they do. Seen Quick Fit offering a guarantee on this work.

Good luck!

Aircon could be a lot of things but the condensor is likely to be leaking as they all seem to after a few years. Need to have it vacuumed out and leak tested. If no leaks re-charge and see what happens. If it's still faulty check the compressor clutch is working. You could also have a blend motor problem preventing the temperature from being adjusted.

I took it a good run last night and found that some cool air was comming from the passenger side and hot air from the drivers side even with the control set to low.
I cant find any reference to the cruise control on the Rave manual. I will search again . I need to find where the vacuum pipes are.
I should have a couple of days off coming up so I'll pray for good weather and get stuck in.

Hot and cold air - Blend motors sticking / seized / knackered
Cruise Control Vacuum pipes - engine compartment rear bulkhead passenger side. They go to a small vacuum unit which then controls the throttle via a cable.

I fixed my cruise by replacing the rotten tubes on the vacume. Somehow it took a day to realise that I had replaced them, then it just started working (by then I had already purchased the vacume switch for the break pedal - so that is now sitting on the workbench).

RAVE - download if from The Green Oval - Downloads | Land Rover Data

Belay that - it has stopped working again

Pressure switch job for the weekend then....
