Unluky mate, never mind, salmon season started:D. What you gonna do about emissions?

The guy who Tests it recons some sort of additive in the fuel and and give it a good hard boot. Clears the crap out apparently, we will see!

What engine is it? My 19j failed for that last year and was told the same, £30's worth of Millers additive later it was still the same but the tester passed it any, been told sticking a load of veg oil in improves the emissions just as well ;)

has it had a service recently? if not give it one. go blat it down the road for an hour or so so the engine can burn all the crap.

my 300 sailed through crazily low with veg oil in the tank. 20-30% would do.

do a 30% mix and fill the tank 1/3rd up then you can fill it up with diesel if it doesn't like it

My Peugeot failed it's M.O.T. last year at a Halfords M.O.T, station. The tester gave the same advice and sold me an additive that is stocked by Halfords, seem to recall it cost about twelve quid. Added it to the fuel tank and booted the car up and down the nearest bypass four or five times keeping it on the boil and using lower gears than I normally would. Then straight back to have it tested again..... passed easily. Now this year I have decided to stop using Scotsmans overdrive, and work the engine more. It's going to cost more to run but a couple of tanks of fuel before the next M.O.T. I will fill up with BP Ultimate (about 10p a litre dearer than regular diesel ) and the see if I pass first time.

....same happened with 300 tdi....tester stuck some egr cleaner through it and it sailed through...I have a blanked egr so it must have just generally cleaned the intake enough

Take your air filter out for the mot :p

I also go for at least an hours drive prior to mot and rag it to get everything hot and burnt off. Also stick some injector cleaner in for a tank beforehand.

Didn't do any of that this year though and got worst smoke so far lol

Could be a dodgy MAF something like that causing the emissions. You might need to get it scanned if the additive trick doesnt work.

Mine failed on the Emissions (300 Tdi), I stuck a load of Veg oil in it, some Redex and a couple of litres of petrol, THEN gave it a good thrash before the re-test, it sailed through, but I'm not sure which bit worked and which didn't, I'd been given a few things to try, and just thought I'd try all of them at once :D:D:D:D:D

Changed all the brake pipes. Now all copper. £8.95 for something called Diesel Magic put in by the bloke that tested it. We once again have an MOT certificate :banana: Thanks for all your help and suggestions guys.
