Let me set the scene, we had one of the biggest thunderstorms of all time last night up here in northumberland which flooded many roads in newcastle, which became impassable.....to some.
My other half was stuck in newcastle 15 miles away with no way to get home...trains and busses were off. So on with the wellies and off i went, first roundabout i came to was a little tester, cars stuck every where and water about 2 foot deep...straight through, next roundabout completly blocked, so a slight de-tour over an embankment and an hour and a half queing later i came to a flooded street with a small car about 75% submerged in the middle, if i turned round i would of been stuck for hours, so with my heart beating like a fast beating thing and about 100 people watching i set off in low range second, it felt like id drove into a brick wall but i kept an even pace and managed to get a nice bow wave which only came over the bonnet once, said bow wave also completly submerged the stricken car, which gave me a little chuckle. Out the otherside to a standing ovation and a extreme amount of adrenalin in my system, after calming myself down for a minuit off i went to pick up the missus....first thing she said when she got in "Im pleased you bought the landrover now" after 6 months of waiting for snow or natural disaster i finally justified buying the landy.
