Hi all. Just thought I'd put a quick intro on here. I've finally after 40 years managed to become a Landrover defender owner. I drove a few once or twice when I was in the TA in the 90s and always looked for the eighth excuse to get one. One divorce and 4 combined kids between me and the new partner gave me the right excuse for a 110 csw. Picked up an '97 with a lot of miles on the clock and a bit of rust underneath. I'm sure you'll hear lots of questions from me in the coming months and years as I attack little projects throughout it.

Welcome to the mad house don't be put off by the high mileage as long as it's been well looked maintained. If you don't know the last time it was changed get the timing belt done soon.

Ask me how I know..... :(

Welcome, my advice would be if you want to keep it upgradeyour security asap. Have a bit 8f a google and a search arround this site as they are very desirable and easily pinched

Thanks for the warning. Got an immobiliser prepped for this weekend plus aiming at a pedal lock plate if their any good?

I have a disklok too which is meant to be the best option on these. Welded up for extra security (do a search or send me a pm with your email and I will send you a pic).
I use a pedal box, the disklok and a whole host of other stuff like alarms imobilisers window bars etc. I had mine a week before some little scrote tried to pinch it. Luckily I'd just fixed the alarm and chained the back door shut

They certainly seem to be popular. I had visions of wrapping loads of shiny extras on when I first collected it. But the more effort I put in the better it looks just plain stock. They're certainly becoming popular on eBay. Prices for a seventeen yearmotor are ridiculous.
