Hi earthling. . . .final drive as in the rear diff. . . .no you cannot empty it as its sealed fer life. . .but you can top it up by the top up bolt ,take it for a good run ,make sure it can be undone first, . . . .undo it on level grond and see if it weeps out ,if no then top it up. . . .sum on hear have undone the flange seal [facing rear of motor ]and completly drained it that way , but you'll need a new gasket to replace it ,un its a reet fiddle. . . .:)

If you do decide to remove back cover...which is only practical way to do it (and realy do need doing by about 60K miles if you look at what comes out) then by welding a captive nut to bottom you can make an effective drain plug for any future drainings

i had all the oil or should i say **** sucked out of my rear diff and replaced with nice new stuff when i did my clutch you would not belive the state of the oil that came out but it had done 100k .:D
